Clash of Clans May 2026 Update — What's New

A new Builder Base builder, the Barbarian King dropping to TH4, and Gold Pass improvements. Here's everything in the May update.

Supercell dropped the May 2026 update on May 26th. Here's a full breakdown of every change and what it means for players and clan leaders.

Extra Builder Coming to Builder Base

A new Builder is being added to the Builder Base, letting you run an additional upgrade simultaneously alongside your existing ones.

  • Available from Builder Hall 2 onwards
  • You need to have unlocked all Home Village Builders first
  • Once unlocked, it runs constantly — one extra upgrade running all the time

For players who've been staring at an idle Builder Base queue, this is a meaningful quality-of-life improvement. If you're looking for a clan that takes Builder Base seriously, now's a good time — activity there is about to tick up.

Barbarian King Now Unlocks at Town Hall 4

This is the big one for newer players. The Barbarian King unlock threshold is dropping from Town Hall 7 to Town Hall 4.

Supercell's reasoning: players who grinded to TH7 were frustrated they hadn't met their first Hero much earlier. Now anyone from TH4 onwards gets access to the BK — which changes how early-game players feel about progression significantly.

What this means for clan recruitment: TH4–6 players are now more capable in wars than they used to be. Leaders running lower-TH friendly clans should factor this in — early-game recruits are going to bring more to the table.

Gold Pass Gets Two Quality-of-Life Improvements

Two changes to how the Gold Pass works, both aimed at making mid-month purchases feel less punishing.

Retroactive Stamp Bonuses — Starting with June's pass, if you buy mid-month you'll receive retroactive premium points (50 instead of 25) for stamp cards you already completed before purchasing. Previously you'd just miss out on those.

Loyalty Bonus — Consecutive monthly Gold Pass purchases now earn you 1 extra Stamp on the day of purchase, with no platform restrictions. The longer your streak, the more you're rewarded for sticking with it.

State of Gameplay #2 — What's Coming

Alongside the main update, Supercell published a companion blog covering balance changes and upcoming content. Highlights include:

  • Balance adjustments to Giant Arrow, Dragon Duke, and Sky Wagon
  • CWL modifications — specifics not yet fully detailed
  • A new Event Troop incoming
  • New Epic Equipment on the way

We'll cover the full State of Gameplay #2 details separately once they're confirmed.
